Although they are known for their algae-eating habits, they should also be offered a varied diet. Feed sinking algae wafers, blanched vegetables such as zucchini or cucumber, and occasional protein-based foods like shrimp pellets or bloodworms. A balanced diet will enhance both growth and color intensity.
Breeding Notes
Breeding follows the same pattern as other Ancistrus species. Males develop characteristic facial bristles and guard the eggs laid in caves or crevices. Providing multiple hiding spots encourages natural spawning behavior. The male fans and protects the eggs until they hatch, after which the fry can be fed blanched vegetables or crushed algae wafers.
Compatibility
